==Internet started in the early 1960s in America. There are all sorts of computers and most of them have internet. Nowadays internet is quick and easy for most people to use. In the early days it was slow and very confusing. In 1972 the first ever email programme was created allowing people to send stuff to each other through their computers. If your country was going to get nuked your phones wouldn't work but the internet still could because even if some lines were destroyed they would find other ways to get messages through computers. Today you can buy things through the internet, you can play games with people on the other side of the world and you can figure out loads of history on the computer. That is how I figured out what to write in my homework today. ==
We have learned lots about communication. My favourite thing I learned was about all of the different types of phones. My favourite was the brick phone. It is very heavy and my dad used one of these a long time ago. I have also seen them in several different movies like the Blues Brothers. Another favourite was the telegram. I had to think about the things it was used for and they used to use lots of dots and dashes to work out the letters and the words. It would have been really slow. I also enjoyed seeing how they would write to people in the late and early BC years. The Chinese invented paper, the Egyptians invented hieroglyphics and did their writing on stone. Alexander Bell made one of the greatest inventions ever, the telephone! Thank you for reading!
In motat it was very exiting because we got to learn all about old fashion phones and there was the one that I told you about last week 7 dollars a minute phew what a rip off.
and belive it or not Ida actually called here mum on one of the old fashion phones crazy ha. good old phones reliable even when they could be over 30 years old I dont think any one called apart from Ida. My definite favorite was the mirror maze because though you have done it about four times you still sometimes go the wrong way.

how did people communicate in the past?
They used early versions of the telephone, they used to send carrier pigeon to each other. Before that they rode horses to send messages or used a telegraph. Did you know that it took a days worth of saving to tell someone twelve words in the1800s.
Nowadays they contact each other by telephone, emai, l facebook, mobile phone, ipad and skype. Did you know that the person who made facebook was the youngest billonaire ever.
My mum's experience with old fashioned phones, you had to dial the numbers, not just push buttons. Lots of people on farms had to share the same phone number so it wasn't very private talking on the phone. When she needed to make a toll call, she would always have to phone the operator and ask for the number. She lived in Holland for a couple of years and way back then it cost $7.00 per minute to phone from New Zealand to Holland - very expensive so most of the time she would just write people letters and that would take about 2 weeks to arrive. When my grandmother came to New Zealand and wrote home to Holland it would take 5 or 6 weeks for a letter to arrive.
A friend of my mum's was very rich and bought an early cell phone. He had to carry it around in a suitcase, very funny. When my dad got his first cell phone, my mum put it through the washing machine by mistake, it did not survive and it wasn't so funny, whoops. The cell phones are a lot fancier now, they have all got cameras and are a lot better, when my mum put my brother's cell phone through the washing machine it did survive, after spending the night in the hot water cupboard. tadah....

I went to the swimming pool. I enjoyed going to the pool and splashing around. It was at a high school and it was exciting because you could make the ground move up and down. There were lots and lots of things you could play with at the pool. There were things that you could jump on and they would still stay floating. The pool was a very average temperature, not too hot and not too cold. The pool was about 2 metres deep and 33 metres long, it was easy to get all the way down the pool because I spent a lot of time just floating around on the raft. The chlorine was very strong and hurt my eyes a lot. Thank you for listening.

The Red Dragonretold by Agor
A long lcommong time agomost of the animals on earth looked very different from how they look now.
Some were thinner, somewere taller and some had more legs than they have today.
The Rhinoceros and theHippopotamus were very vain and always boring the other animals, asking them toadmire their good looks.
"Haven't I got themost handsome face you've ever seen?" the Rhinoceros would ask, as heturned his head from side to side. "Don't you think my left side is ashandsome as my right?".
"Look at my slimbody" the Hippopotamus would answer. "Isn't this the most beautifulbody you've ever seen?"
"Huuh!" theElephant would trumpet. "Look at my beautiful ivory teeth. They're themost perfect teeth in the world". And he would smile, showing two rows ofgleaming ivory teeth.
Every thing was peacefuland boring until one day a red dragon flew down from the sky shouting "Theworld is going to end! The world is going to end!"
"We've heard thatone before" said the lion, with a bored sigh. "The chicken said thesky was falling, but nothing happened".
"It's for real thistime. The world is coming to an end!" yelled the red dragon.
"How do youknow" the others asked.
"A wizard toldme" he replied.
"Then it must betrue" they all said. "What shall we do?"
"You can all climb onto my back and I'll fly you toanother world" said the red dragon.
They all rushed to get onthe dragon's back except the lion.
"I'm king aroundhere and I'm not frightened of anything" he roared. "I'm going to stayhere on earth".
"I'm going to staytoo" said the tiger, getting down.
"Tigers are just as brave as lions".
When the other animalswere ready, the dragon flapped his wings, jumped into the air and came downagain.
With such a heavy load onhis back he had to try it several times before he took off.
As the red dragon flewhigher it was uncomfortable for the animals squeezed onto his back and some ofthem became scared. They began to fight and push each other.
"Get your tail outof my eye" yelled one.
"Watch where you'reputting that paw" yelled another.
"Oh, we're goingvery high" squeaked a mouse.
"Give me a break andsit still" cried the red dragon. "All you're fighting and shoving ismaking it very hard for me to fly".
The animals ignored him and finally the red dragon became so tired he couldn't flap his wings any moreand started to fall out of the sky.
The animals slid off hisback and fell towards the ground screaming in panic. No one was killed but theyall landed with a mighty thud.
The snakes legs fell off and he slithered away in the grass.
The Rhinoceros landed onhis face, making a large bump on his nose that turned into a horn.
The Hippopotamus keptrolling and bumping over the hillside, getting bigger and fatter until hefinally splashed into a waterhole. He was so embarrassed at how round and fathe was, he wouldn't come out.
The elephant broke allhis teeth except for two that stuck into the ground. When he tried to pull themout of the ground they stretched into the two long tusks he has today.
The giraffe caught hishead in a high tree and his neck stretched and stretched until his body reachedthe ground.
In fact all the animals changed into how they look today.
The lion and tiger roared with laughter at how funny the other animals looked now.
"I don't see what'sso funny" snapped the crocodile, whose face had been flattened by a gorilla landing on it.
The Rhinoceros was veryangry about losing his good looks. That's why you have to be very careful near them, even today.
I think im doing well because lots of people are helping me. This week in sci tech we have been figuring out how to make a spray.
